I'm Maria Phelps and I'll encourage you to create a

Mindful, Balanced, & Authentic Path to Realigned Singing.

Whether you are a new singer, have stepped away for a while, or are a working singer-songwriter, you can always find real talk, different vocal strategies and inspiration to connect to your authentic sound.

I started out as a singer-songwriter, created a voice studio that became an award winning music school, decided to close shop and start fresh during a pandemic while becoming a mother and managing an autoimmune disease.

Whether it's as a singer, advocating for yourself at doctor's appointments, creating boundaries, or all of the above. Now I'm giving you everything I've learned along the way so that you don't have to spend years fighting to connect with your voice.

Official Bio

I'm Maria McNeil Phelps- voice teacher/mentor, singer-songwriter and podcast host of the Realign Voice Studio Podcast. My passion is helping people connect with their authentic voice. But before all of this, I was just like you. I wanted to sing. I wanted to be an artist.

After spending years honing my craft as a singer and songwriter performing all around New England, I discovered that my true passion was supporting other singers and songwriters as a voice teacher

I spent years helping singers around the world learn about the latest vocal techniques, stage presence and music business strategies. After years of teaching for other music schools, studios and clubs, I decided to open my own studio outside Boston Massachusetts in my own apartment. From there, the rest is history. That small studio became a music school in Somerset Kentucky, where I oversaw 12 instructors and hundreds of students. My focus became running the school over teaching. This was an incredible time that lasted about 8 years until the pandemic of 2020. It was then that I decided to close shop and get back to my roots of teaching voice. In 2023 I rebranded and become Realign Voice Studio to get even clearer about my goal to help others.

As a voice mentor and a podcast host my goal is simple: to empower you and help you melt away the obstacles that prevent you from feeling connected to your sound. My approach might be "slower" but my goal is to create a kind, compassionate and curious space for exploring with sound.

THE FUN STUFF

When I'm not working you can find me

singing with my husband and daughter, listening to inspirational podcasts, watching really bad romcoms and writing music.

I'm a mega introvert but I love a good one-on-one conversation and meeting new people. I was adopted at the age of four and a half. I'm Mexican American but I don't speak spanish. After spending years of feeling depressed attending public school, with the support of my family, I was accepted into the Chicago Academy For The Arts (a performing arts high school). Still a super shy kid I some how managed to win an outstanding leadership award when graduating and moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music.

There I enjoyed riding my bike to work (the Boston Symphony Orchestra) and running 5Ks. When I moved to Kentucky I found my true love. My husband is my best friend and the most loving and smartest person I know. In 2019 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. In 2022 I became a mom.

So yeah, I'm  basically an older mom with autoimmune issues running a small business just trying to live my best life. I feel the most alive when I am helping others connect to their voice.

And I'm so excited you want to join me!
